My Love For Terracotta

Happy Fall, Autumn, סתיו!

I looked through my closet recently, you know, new season, what do I have that I still love, what's going to be my look this winter. And I'm seeing all this terracotta. And then I look around my room, my house and it's everywhere. I mean, even my linen is a shade of terracotta.

I don't know when my love for red started, but there are a few purchases that stand out for me. In 11th grade, my friends and I all got matching Gap sweatshirts in different colors. You guessed it, mine was red. When I was pregnant with my son I bought him a red stroller, a red car seat, a red highchair. I guess I can explore this more- the earthiness of red (Capricorn Sun, Moon and Rising), power, strength, love.

So over the years, with my travels to countries like Morocco, Spain, Central America it just infused me with more and more love for this color, this material. The red evolved into earthy and raw and became terracotta. That color that just envelopes you. The desert, sun, soul and heart all mixed in together. What it brings to a space is exactly that. What I also noticed is that spaces that have minimal wall details- so think white simple walls- that were decorated with shades of terracotta, were successful in itself. It didn't need more.

So here’s my fall advice. As the sun's warmth leaves us temporarily, bring some of it in in the ways of terracotta. And let all your senses take it in.
